Quick Notes
Sorry for the recent lack of post here. Here are some quick notes.
Having survived Thanksgiving everything is settling down again.
Gina and I prevailed upon Talia to extend her visit by a few days
to let little Joseph get a bit stronger. Talia and family are back
in NC and everyone is fine. Also the new PVC sewer line with it's
two new clean-outs is working just fine. The yard looks like a bomb
went off and the insurance is fighting us and trying to minimize anything
they might have to pay for but otherwise it's all fine.
Gina has won 2005 Best Actress in a fan film award on theforce.net.
There were other awards for Revelations as well, but the voting
process seems flawed and has touched off a good deal of debate. I
refuse to get involved any further.
Meanwhile I went to see Narnia with a few friends the other
night and that was pretty good and seemed to be a very faithful adaptation
of the book. Although the actual experience of seeing the movie was
spoiled a bit by a group of very belligerent girls sitting behind
us. When asked to keep it down (or just move) they dug their heels
in and made a point of being even more annoying. Talking, text messaging,
(with the goddamn beep per button turned on.) and so on.
In any case, now I'm looking forward to KONG. That looks really fun.

ADOBE Shines Spotlight
on "REVELATIONS"!
While making Revelations, Shane made heavy use of the Adobe
suite. Now the company has an article about it up at their site. It's
amazing to me that we're STILL generating buzz this long after
the fact.
They have some really good things to say too.
Congratulations to Shane and everyone over at Panic Struck Productions.
Speaking of Revelations for a moment, (stop snickering back
there!) recently Gina and I were both nominated for Best Actress and
Best Actor respectively over at theforce.net
and I must say just being nominated was quite an honor. I know everyone
says that but I really mean it. However there seems to be a contingent
of knuckleheads out there who aren't playing by the rules in the voting
of the whole thing. To be sure there were other fan films this year,
and I wouldn't tell anyone how to vote. All I would ask is that people
be honest and vote fairly, and even that it seems is too much to hope
for. (At first I swore I wasn't going to do this, but here we go.)
If you're a regular here maybe you want to go over there, find the
right place, and put in a vote. If you do though, please
vote fairly. Don't vote for your friends movie because he
or she is your friend, just vote for the best work or person in each
category. Don't vote for a movie for best cinematography when the
clowns making it clearly don't know what a goddamn tripod is.
If you're not registered, and don't want to give them your real information,
allow me to introduce you to mailinator.com.

Our new theme for this month will be:
James Clavell's SHOGUN.
I loved this miniseries from the first. I can still remember how the
first time it aired, I watched it, and talked about it, and waited
for the next night. By the fourth or fifth night my friends and I
were all sitting in front of the TV with Saki and a small fortune
in Sushi in front of us, just waiting for the show to start.
Good times.
Toshiro Mifune as Toranaga always reminds me of my father.
Also it inspired us to read the book and other works by Clavell.
The book is way more intricate than the miniseries and totally worth
the read. Actually Tai-Pan is my favorite of his books.
It was really hard to find art for this theme, so I cheated a little,
but I think it's okay.
